Distribution of planktonic foraminifers and shelled pteropods in the northern Barents Sea.

Latest version published by The Nansen Legacy Project on 19 October 2023 The Nansen Legacy Project
This is the dataset from the publication “Seasonality of marine calcifiers in the northern Barents Sea: Spatiotemporal distribution of planktonic foraminifers and shelled pteropods and their contribution to carbon dynamics” (doi: 10.1016/j.pocean.2023.103121). Planktonic foraminifers and shelled pteropods from the upper 300 me of the water column were collected using a midi zooplankton multinet (64 µm mesh size) on board of the RV Kronprins Haakon in a latitudinal transect along the northern Barents Sea covering shelf, slope and basin in different seasons from 2019 and 2021. After the recovery, the samples were frozen at -20° C.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 125 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

  • Event (core)
    125
  • ExtendedMeasurementOrFact
    250

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
