Samples have been usually preserved in formalin. Be aware of that the specimen Calanus finmarchicus contains both Calanus finmarchicus and Calanus helgolandicus since these two congener species are difficult to separate. Data on species composition are limited. The data are extracted from the IMR zooplankton database that holds Norwegian Sea data on species composition (abundance), size fractionated biomass as well as biomass for particular zooplankton groups obtained from standard seasonal transects (Svinøy, Gimsøy and Bjørnøya-vest) and a regional coverage of the Norwegian Sea during spring.
